Recognizes numbers

Learning words and symbols that represent “how many” is an important step in developing number sense. When a child is able to recognize the numerals 0 to 9 and know each name, he can associate the word or symbol with the quantity to which the numeral refers. Learning to recognize basic numerals allows for children to make sense of numerals of greater magnitude.
